pencil on paper / framed / 49 x 62 x 2 cm (framed) / 46.5 x 62 x 0.1 cm (unframed)
Pencil portrait.
The artwork was exhibited in a group show in Athens "on the magic mountain" , having as a starting point the well known novel by Thomas Mann.
{I have always been interested in spaces in dreams (rooms, labyrinths, passages etc) and my research lead me to Gaston Bachellard's "The poetics of Space". I found in that book many images, symbols and thoughts I had been using in my work and in my fantasies since I was a child. Shells, nests, connected rooms, caves and shelters are some of the spaces that inspire me.}
"I guess there is not much space left in my shell. It can't protect me anymore. I might not need protection anyway. I will let my secrets free, some of them have already escaped. I can't even remember what those secrets were. Maybe they were just my wonderful, yet problematic fantasies." (from my notebook)
Part of a group of artworks I call "The Poetics of Space"
